While there is little in the Ceveral Mountains but Dwarves, wildmen, trolls, there are also gem and gold mines. And where there is treasure, there be dragons.
Dragons are dangerous creatures. Some people say it is possible to tame dragons if you hatch them and they take you to be their mother. These, however are just stories told near the fires to children. No one has tamed or heard of a dragon rider in their memory, or in their grandfather's lifetimes or his grandmother's time. Dragons come in black, brown, green, and rarely red or blue. There have been stories about a "white dragon" and that a Cheiftain in Tavish has a white hide, but some say it's a lie, others a trick like a bleached hide, and no one has ever killed one in at least a hundred years. Most doubt they exist.
Unfortunately, it has been heard in the northern villages that dragons still attack and horde gold and damsels. Most reports come from Tavish, and most dragon hunters come from that country, though bounty dragon hunters do come from Alvernon once in a blue moon. Dragon Hordes are free game; knights can take the gold and damsels. Dragon hide is worth big money, and usually kings have a bounty paid for killing dragons who stalk their villages. Many young knights and warriors try their luck at dragon hunting. Most never find a dragon, if they are lucky. Of those who do, well, they are never found again. There were several successful dragon hunters in current times:
-Marvello the Clever, age 38 retired dragonhunter of Tavish, has 8 dragon kills under his belt and living the good life in a small coastal fortress. available character
-Theobald the Brave, would be age 27, deceased, 5 dragon kills under his belt before being killed by the 6th, from Tavish
-Leowulf the Strong, age 25, 3 dragon kills to his belt, currently in the field, unmarried "rockstar" status of Tavish available character
-Sir William of Blue Spruce, age 24, 3 dragon kills to his belt, knight lord of Alvernon available character
