Our main story focuses around the Kingdom of Alvernon (said by locals as Ol'ver-nahn). It is a large, but land-locked nation. To the north there are cold, snowy mountains, the west the rocky coastal Kingdom of Tavish, to the east, the vast and dark forests of Eshti', said to be home to the Sorceress Queen Meidweyn, the faeries, elves, and evil magical creatures. Through this dense and dangerous forest, is the only way to the great western Kingdom of Herrsland. The hot, balmy lands of the south are called Quel'dar'rah, where the many Sultans and his viziers have harems, and many keep multiple wives. It is a strange land, the three northern kingdoms have had little contact with it, as there is a large inland sea, or lake that separates them.
The King of Alvernon was curious and visited. Their wealth and sultry culture seduced him, and his greed overpowered him. After one hundred years of peace, the knights were rounded up and marched south, where they loaded great ferries and the King's Crusade had begun. After nearly 11 years of fighting, Quel'dar'rah was conquered and legally bound to Alvernon. However, in the end, both the Sultan and the King were dead. The former chose suicide once the terms had been decided, taking death better than the dishonor of defeat. The king had become sick and died. The doctor had said he contracted a fever from the south, but others whispered murder.
Now, the King's consort Emme still sits on the throne, and will maintain that seat until her eldest son, Alexander takes a wife.
